Call for Papers

Lent 2018 Issue

Deadline: 25th March

The British Journal of Undergraduate Philosophy (BJUP) invites submissions from current undergraduates for its Lent 2018 issue.

If you wish to submit a paper, please send it to before the 25th March 2018 together with a separate document including your name, contact details, paper title, and university affiliation. Please ensure that the paper contains no information which could be used to identify the author. Please also note that we only accept one paper per author, and will not accept papers that have previously been published elsewhere.

Submissions of 2000-3000 words are preferred, but all submissions under 5000 words will be peer-reviewed. Submissions are welcome from all areas of philosophy, as well as related fields such as cognitive science, anthropology, and gender studies.

In order to be accepted, papers must be clear enough to be understood by an intelligent layperson. They must be argumentative in nature, and not purely descriptive. The argumentation must be rigorous, and any nonstandard inferential moves should be explained in detail. The paper should not be longer than is necessary to demonstrate its conclusion. In addition, we prefer papers that offer novel arguments or philosophical positions.

Accepted papers will be published in the BJUP, and their authors will be invited to speak at the BUPS annual conference during 14th-15th April 2018.
